Privacy, bill sharing and scam safety
Created November 5, 2026
A bill can reveal more than its amount. It may show a full name, home or service address, customer number, barcode, QR code, due date and provider account details. Before sharing any bill with a person or platform, check whether it is a live service, who can see the information, what is retained and how to remove it.
Do not publish unredacted bills
- Hide account/customer numbers, barcodes, QR codes, payment references, street address and identifying details not needed to explain the request.
- Never share bank logins, passwords, OTPs, full card details, security codes or identity documents in a public post or direct message.
- Do not upload bills to this site. It has no bill-submission feature and cannot arrange help.
Spot impersonation and advance-fee scams
Be cautious if a stranger claims they can guarantee payment but asks first for a fee, gift card, crypto transfer, bank password, OTP or remote access. Confirm the account independently through the project’s first-party domain or public social profile; a logo or copied profile is not proof. Never pay a fee to an unverified person to “release” a promised donation.
Verify a platform before relying on it
- Find dated terms, a privacy policy, an identifiable operator and a support channel.
- Check whether it is a prototype/demo or a live service that actually transfers money.
- Understand where funds go, what fees exist, how refunds and disputes work, and whether the provider receives payment directly.
- Check the bill issuer’s own site before giving an unfamiliar party account information.
If you already shared a bill or credentials, contact the provider and financial institution using verified contact details, change affected passwords and report suspicious messages. See the overview and reference sources.
